There’s something about a new nail polish that can change the way you feel, in an instant. Perhaps you’re feeling the need for something demure, or you have a hot date and want to pump up the sex appeal. Maybe you’re going to a party and just want to sparkle Nail polish may be a humble and inexpensive beauty item, but paint on a new nail color, and suddenly, your attitude, changes.
|“Platinum Card” really looks like molten silver on your nails!|
NYC New York Color’s latest nail collection is almost gone, so if you want these particular colors you’ve got to grab them fast. But at just $2.49 each, you’ll get a nail-strengthening polish with a strengthening complex including iron, calcium and Pro-Vitamin B5. Or get other colors from the various collections, but no matter what you choose, after just 5 days the company says your nails will be 50% stronger, and 40% longer. I can’t quantify this with any hard evidence, other than the fact that my nails looked The polish didn’t seem to chip or break as badly as usual. The color and shine lasted even longer than I expected (depending upon the color and the care in which you apply base, two color coats, and a top coat). In fact, this polish, although it is under $2.50, can to a week. My favorites from spring are I (heart) NY, a bold, cream red, and a bright, tropical, cream apricot called “Timeless Tangerine.” I also like Teal to the End” and “Midnight Amethyst.” One offers a deep blackened purple and the other, a bold teal. Party time brings “Grammercy Glitz” a glitter polish featuring a clear coat of gloss infused with tiny bits of part-colored glitter that looks like a starry sky (not an elementary school valentine). The seriously metallic “Platinum Card” adds a silvery shine to fingers and toes that looks “black tie” in every way. Pinks, lilacs, greens, and even a yellow, add pizazz without being pricey. If you can’t find these in the store, get another NYC New York Color Nail Polish. All of them are really good.
When you’re traveling this Summer, finding a foundation that will fit will into a carry-on can sometimes be a challenge. One that comes in a small tube and that you can “personalize” to your skin tone, is NYC New York Color Skin Matching Foundation ($3.99). It has a breakthrough tone-to-tone shade adjusting technology that adapts shades to skin’s color and texture, blending seamlessly for a natural, flawless and radiant looking complexion. Its formula, enriched with moisturizers, essential minerals and vitamins A, C and E, nourishes and hydrates skin all day long. The formula really is very sheer, so even if you don’t quite get the difference between the Light, Light to Medium, Fair, Medium or Medium to Deep shades, you will still find yourself feeling good about the makeup. The colors do not go deep enough for women of deeper colors, but I’m willing to bet the NYC New York Color will develop more colors in it’s range for this excellent foundation. By the way, it’s good for all skin types, has vitamins A,C, and E, plus minerals and moisturizers and has just a slight fresh scent. I am really impressed with this foundation for a natural, every day, not-too-made-up look. TIP: application is key with a liquid foundation. Squeeze a small amount of foundation on the palm of your hand and dot foundation section-by-section on the face. Start with the forehead and then apply to cheeks, chin, nose and upper neck.: For best results, apply to face using a cosmetic sponge or brush.
An even longer lasting, but still sheer, liquid foundation from NYC New York Color is Smooth Skin Liquid Makeup ($2.99). The creamy liquid in a glass bottle offers 1 fl. Oz of creamy, natural-looking color in six different shades (but none are very deep): Ivory and Nude are the lightest, followed by Soft Beige and Barely Beige, then Classic Beige and Deep Beige. I have fair skin and I still felt I could wear everything from the lightest to the deepest because it is so sheer. Layer it, and the color become more apparent. But the moistly matte formula leaves you with a smooth finish that lasts all day long. Its lightweight coverage also reduces the appearance of dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles. Depending upon your skin’s texture and the weather, your foundation might light from morning until night without needing much of a touch-up. I really like this foundation and at just $2.99, it’s pretty amazing.
