I am a fan of flip flops for lounging, although I can’t wear anything between my toes for a long trek on City streets. There are so many types to choose from these days!
One company that’s making functional, fashionable, and eco-friendly flip flops is Floc Designs The Founder, Maria Pantezes doesn’t just do flip flops, her company does them with a foldable, portable, unique design called Pocketflops. This footgear actually folds in half so you can put them in a purse or pocket—really great for women who wear heels or whose feet get tired on the go. Even more special is that the new “Earth Line” of Pocketflops’ soles are made with 95% recycled domestic tires and come with a carrying case (with the same design) created from organic fabric or PET (recycled bottle) fabric. They have a design choice of trees and birds or perhaps, President Barack Obama.
I tried the Obama designed flip flops, featuring the Prez’s smiling head as you can see in the photo, and super-soft, ribbons to hold the flip flop secure without ripping the sides of my toes to shreds. The flip flops are sturdy, but fold flat–perfect for beach, travel, or just for walking around when you need a break from shoes or heavier sandals.
If you’d rather not step on Obama’s head as you walk, there are other designs from stones to Ninjas. All the PocketFlops are just $20.00 and come in small, medium and large. The company will also make special designs–imagine the possibilities!
