It’s not just your bones that get fragile and more prone breakage as you age, your skin can also gradually become more thin and fragile.
This makes your skin much more vulnerable to the type of bruising that you might have just brushed off in the past, such as just bumping into a door or other object.
DerMend offers products focusing on more mature skin (think: 50’s,60’s, 70’s+) but sun exposure or even some medications can make skin fragile and bruise-prone at any age.
DerMend has a powerhouse of good stuff inside! Here are three products from DerMend to try!
DerMend Moisturizing Bruise Formula Cream
Last Summer the Advice Sisters Beauty and Style reviewed the DerMend Moisturizing Bruise Formula Cream ($29.99 4.5 fl. oz.) (see advicesisters review)
We like this unscented light moisturizing cream not just to help with the appearance of bruises.
It’s good for skin of any age because of it’s powerhouse ingredients that help to restore your skin’s natural barrier, improve skin texture, maintain collagen and elastin production, and boost moisture.
The unscented, fragrance-free, light moisturizing cream absorbs quickly and makes skin look and feel nourished.
Key ingredients include: Retinol (an exfoliator Vitamin A); Glycolic Acid (a form of alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin)
Niacinamide (a form of Vitamin B3, with antioxidant properties)
Ceramides (to help retain moisture, repair and replenish skin)
Arnica Oil (helps enhance the appearance of damaged skin by restoring suppleness)
Niacinamide (a form of Vitamin B3, with antioxidant properties) and Phytonadione (a form of Vitamin K) to improve the appearance of skin discoloration.
DerMend Fragile Skin Moisturizing Cream
This product helps improve the appearance of thin, fragile skin with a cocktail of skin-loving powerhouse anti-aging ingredients including Alpha Hyaluronic Acid; Retinol; Glycolic Acid ; Niacinamide and Ceramides (to help retain moisture, repair and replenish skin).
We didn’t test it on anyone with a fragile skin condition, but based on the ingredients, we’d give it a thumbs up!
As long as you are going to use a moisturizer, it might as well be a nourishing one!
DerMend asserts that there’s “no sensitizing ingredients” in the cream but even though the products can be used on all types of skin.
If you are sensitive to some of these ingredients you should probably do a patch test first (or consult with your doctor).
Exfoliating ingredients in these products will make your skin more sensitive to the sun’s damaging rays,
You must wear SPF protection when using products with AHA (you should do this every time and every day anyway).
Stop the Itch! DerMend Moisturizing Anti-Itch Lotion
DerMend Moisturizing Anti-Itch Lotion($19.99 8 oz bottle) relieves itchy, dry and irritated skin without steroids.
Have you ever noticed that the skin of elderly people seems really dry with an almost paper-like quality to it?
As skin ages, the lipid layer, which protects our bodies, depletes and produces fewer oils that naturally keep skin moisturized.
Dry flaky itchy skin not only looks bad, it can cause scratching, which further compromises fragile skin.
The active ingredient in this product is 1% Pramoxine Hydrochloride designed to stop itching and irritation on sensitive itchy skin.
Hydrogenated coconut oil also helps to moisturize along with petrolatum and lanolin.
The product is also fragrance and paraben-free and good for sensitive skin.
If your skin is really dry and irritated, this Moisturizing Anti-Itch lotion can really help you stop scratching and flaking, and focus on other things.
The Bottom Line:
DerMend has designed the trio of Mature Skin Solutions for older skin types.
But we think really they work well for anyone who is “accident-prone” and/or whose skin is compromised and fragile.
We were impressed with these affordable skincare products that can help make life feel better, and look better too!
