Cross Pens: Beloved Luxury Accessories
A luxury pen is a statement. And, one of the most traditional and beloved gifts to mark a special occasion is a luxurious pen from Cross.
The company has been synonymous with luxury writing implements since it was founded in 1846.
Unfortunately, it’s easy to misplace a small item like a pen., but now you there’s a Cross pen that refuses to ever be lost or misplaced.
But nowthere’s a Cross pen that refuses to ever be lost or misplaced..at least not for long!
Introducing the Cross Peerless TrackR Pen
The Cross Peerless TrackR (SRP $250) with Bluetooth technology actually lets you keep in touch with your precious pen even if you don’t know quite where you last left it.
This pen doesn’t look like the traditional slim metal Cross pens you’re probably used to.
These pens are substantial, beautifully enameled in sea blue or black, powered by two replaceable CR1220 batteries.
But that’s not really the thing that makes them special.
What does, is that the TrackR app downloaded onto your smart phone (IOS or Android) can then use Bluetooth® and Crowd Locate technology to help you find your pen again, even when it’s not where you think it should be.
What is TrackR and How Does It Find YourPen?
Once you register your pen on the TrackR app and pair it, Bluetooth technology can help you see on a map where your pen is. If the pen’s Bluetooth connection is disconnected from its paired mobile phone, TrackR’s Crowd Locate community will automatically start searching for your pen.
If the pen’s Bluetooth connection is disconnected from its paired mobile phone, TrackR’s Crowd Locate community will automatically start searching for your pen.
One of the millions of TrackR app users justs might walk by your missing pen while running the app and then you’ll receive a confidential update with your pen’s last known location.
According to TrackR users help each other find over a million items every day worldwide.
This type of community is similar to Tile or other types of location devices that let communities of users help each other.
The pen supposedly can even help people find their misplaced mobile phones.
Following a simple button press on the cap, the pen can alert people to their device’s whereabouts, even when left in silent mode (*I couldn’t get this to work, but it was probably user-error on my part).
I didn’t get the Cross pen pouch ($30) that features a TrackR bravo device (a tag like Tile) but it apparently can ring your phone as well.
Does This Really Work?
I didn’t want to purposely lose my CROSS pen even to test it with TrackR, but I am prone to misplacing things. So I actually did “lose” it while writing this feature review.
Panic almost set in — but then I remembered this pen was special and could be tracked.
Opening the TrackR app, all I really had to do was look at the map. I couldn’t tell exactly where the pen was, but it was definitely in my neighborhood within a few blocks.
Then I started getting a vibration on my phone for “Alison’s Pen” (that’s what I had named it in the TrackR app).
I turned on sound, and it became louder and louder until I located the pen — on my desk, under a pile of papers!
The Bottom Line:
My sample was in a Quartz Blue (there is also black) lacquer finish, with polished chrome appointments. It is really beautiful and luxurious. You make a statement with it.
But the design of this particular pen will be more comfortable for men or women with larger hands.
As a woman with slim fingers, it becomes a bit tiring to hold after using it for a long while. But it’s still so impressive — everyone wants to see it!
Cross Peerless TrackR arrives in a hard-sided, foam-filled gift box with an instruction manual. Also included are one black, medium ballpoint (#8518-4) included in the pen and two replacement cartridges.
A Cross pen of any type, but especially this new version, makes an impressive gift or a splurge for yourself.
For those who love the latest tech gadgets, it’s simply a must-have.
The Cross Peerless TrackR pen ($250) is now available on Cross.com or in retail stores throughout Europe and the US and the Cross Pouch (SRP $30) is available at Cross.com/TrackR. The TrackR app is available for free on the Play Store or Apple App Store.
