Although I love beauty products in every price point and I admit to even favoring some budget-friendly brands, when it comes to certain companies, I can’t help but say: splurge, IF YOU CAN. One of those brands I really, really love, and I’d purchase no matter the cost, is Sensai by Kanebo. Made in Japan, heir skincare is remarkable — luxurious and effective. And when it comes to color cosmetics, Sensai is all about sensuality and allure, along with colors inspired by the aesthetic ideals of Japan’s ancient Imperial court (how romantic)!
Whether you consider this a splurge or a must-have my new “it product” of the month is definitely the Sensai Eye Shadow Palette ($50.00). It features a round, pewter compact as smooth as a river stone, with an interior mirror and a mini applicator with a flat liner brush on one end, a shadow brush on the other and also a dual-ended sponge-tipped mini applicator. The palette features three shades of one color (light, medium and dark) plus a creamy liner. I am not exaggerating when I report that even with a mini brush (use your own makeup brushes if you’re able) the color slid on smoothly and like a silk scarf. They blend, they are flexible, they are just beautiful!! Sensai is “treatment make–up” featuring an ultra–gentle, layered formulation that is silky to the touch and offers exceptional color. There are four different color eye shadow palettes, brown, grey, blue and purple.
Like the proverbial seven blind men regarding an elephant, one might say that $50.oo is a lot to pay for an eye shadow compact. But, on the other hand, four products in one compact is just $12.50 per item. Furthermore, these products contain a precious silk and water infusion that contains Fuji Sensui water (extracted from Japan’s most sacred mountain, Mt. Fuji) and precious Koishimaru Silk Extract, which was once reserved solely for the Imperial Family of Japan. These ingredients help keep skin hydrated not just from the outside, but from within! You’re getting skin benefits, as well as beautifiers.
Add a Kanebo Sensai Mascara ($$25.00-$32.00) and a touch of Sensai Eyebrow Pencil ($28) with a special oval-shaped lead and spiral brush, for this season’s must have — groomed but natural looking brows.
