This holiday season we know you’ll be doing something with your hair more than ever. And that “something” is using heat stylers. Blow dryers, curling irons, hot rollers, straighteners, and other sorts of devices help keep your hair beautiful, but they also can make your hair dull, dry and damaged. While you can mitigate some of the damage by using potions that shield your hair from the heat, modern heat stylers will also help you look good, while saving your hair from heat saboteurs.
Recently, The Advice Sisters learned about a new line of “healthy hair” heat stylers from Revlon. This Revlon Laser Brilliance™ line includes hair dryer, straightener, and curling iron, all with a unique lighted chamber near their styling surfaces. It’s not just for show, it emits infrared heat during the styling process to help hair preserve its natural moisture and minimize frizz. Each time you use one of these tools, you may actually help to improve the texture of your hair. That’s because the cutting-edge technology heats and styles hair from the inside-out and helps you style faster, so the heat doesn’t bake your hair for so long, yet you also get softness and shine at the same time. This, thanks to ceramic and ionic bennies that evenly distribute heat.
As with all the things we review, I tested on of the tools to see if the claims being made were true. The Advice Sisters were sent the Revlon Laser Brilliance 1 1/4″ Ceramic Ionic Infrared Heat Straightener to try ($29.99) This sleek looking straightener really does have a lot “under the hood,” for under $30.0. For starters, the plates are slightly wider than the standard, at a -1/4″ so you can get more hair straightened, more quickly. And there aren’t just three heat settings, there are thirty of them up to 385 F. This means you really can customize how much heat you need, instead of having too little to do the job effectively, or too much (which will bake your hair). There is an On/Off button, a nice swivel cord of ease of use, and an ergonomic handle. There is also a 2 year limited warranty. The straightener heats up very quickly and the end results was smooth, shiny hair in one pass. The only thing I didn’t like was the the window showing the heat settings is not lit and the numbers are tiny. I set nine on “20” which is close to the top recommended setting for thick hair, but the settings are in numbers not degrees, so you have to consult the instruction booklet and look at the chart, then experiment. If you don’t, you won’t have any idea what number setting to “dial” for your hair, and that kind of defeats the purpose. But that is my only complaint. Otherwise, this is a chic looking straightener that will help you look your best now through the holidays and all the way through the coming year(s). It would also make a nice holiday gift for a hair-obsessed friend who can’t get enough styling tools into her life. Although I didn’t try them, I’m confident that the hair dryer and the curling iron in this collection will also be excellent.
The Revlon Laser Brilliance™ line is available in Ulta , Walmart, Target, and Harmon’s with a SRP: $24.99–$29.99. For additional information on the Revlon Laser Brilliance™ line or on other Revlon® styling appliances, please go to www.revlonhairtools.com.
