My husband John saw me wear-testing shoes and said: “those are cute.”
“They’re from AVON,” I said.
“AVON has shoes?” he asked, looking puzzled. “I thought they only sold beauty products.”
Well AVON does make good beauty products and fragrances, but they offer shoes and accessories, too. In fact, this company has really gone one step above in the past few season to provide trendy, nice quality accessories at dazzlingly inexpensive prices. Over the past few seasons, I’ve found myself going to the Avon Web Site to see what’s new, because there is always something there I want right now! Here are just three examples of footwear for Spring and Summer that will get you admiring glances and yes, they’re all available from AVON through the Avon web site, or your favorite Avon representative.
Jelly sandals are now commonplace for casual wear because they’re cool and fun. But Avon is offering a classier version in a crystal-studded jelly slingback ($19.00) that you might actually wear to a party as well as to the park. The squishy and soft sandal has a peep toe and a padded footbed (because no one wants to walk on hard plastic). The “jelly” part is soft and somewhat stretchy for comfort, and there’s askid-resistant sole and a 5/8″ wedge heel. This style is available on in whole sizes from Small (size 5) to XL (size 12) but if you’re in-between, order one size up. There are two colors choices, a bright turquoise, or what appears to be a slightly translucent, soft white.
When you look at shoes on a web site and haven’t seen them in person, you might wonder “will these fit me and will they be comfortable?” If you’re buying the adorable, striped peep toe wedge from Avon you don’t have to worry. These trendy wedges not only look good, but they fit true to size and look amazing—for just under $30.00 at $29.99. These red peep toe wedges are made of super lightweight. Synthetic materials but they look like leather. The “pleather” is soft and pliable so it won’t cut into your feet as you walk, or if it’s hot and your feet swell. The cork-look wedge with 3″ heel gives you that trendy look but the skid-resistant sole makes walking, comfortable and safe. What I like so much about these is the striping of black, white, green, red and beige, giving the wedge a look reminiscent of an old-fashioned webbed chaise lounge or a colorful, Summer beach umbrella. The shoe is available in red only in whole sizes 6-10. If you’re in-between, order one size up. I personally love these shows. They are are a major find!
Flip flops are a standard for summer, or for travel, beach and pool, but Avon’s newest have a cheerful foot bed festooned with colorful flowers, and a patent leather like thong. $14.99 brings you this lovely flip flop in sizes small (5-6) Medium (7-8) or Large (9-10) in bright pink with yellow and pink flowers, or a blue flip flop with purple flowers tipped with yellow and dark blue. The sole is substantial enough to take the pounding of a City sidewalk, and it’s non-slip. But the thong is soft and flexible so it won’t kill that tender space between your toes. Flip flops are a travel essential. The thin, shiny thong and slightly more substantial sole make these dressy enough to wear even with a skirt or sundress as well as more casual wear.
If these styles excite you, and they should, there’s plenty more.
Note that for those who feel strongly about items made in China, some of Avon’s shoe styles do cite China as the country of origin. That doesn’t mean everything Avon offers is made there, nor will everyone will have an issue with this. However, I wanted to mention it just in case you’re like my friend who refused to buy an appliance she really needed, simply because all the ones she could find, were manufactured in China. So if this is an issue for you, check the details before you click “BUY.”
