Is there anything that NARS puts out there on the market that The Advice Sisters can’t covet enough? I think not! But when it comes to the NARS Guy Bourdin Holiday Collection, I think a picture is really worth a thousand words. And, frankly, I only personally tried two pieces of this lovely, colorful, and fairly extensive makeup collection for Holiday 2013. So I’m just going to say a few words about the two items I personally tried, and a few words about the collection in general, and then let the photos do the talking for me. Oh, and you’re going to love everything, so let me tell you where to get everything right up front: at NARS boutiques and at http://narscosmetics.com
The collection has been available since October, but we’ve just had a chance to wear test our two precious pieces, now. The thing that always amazes me about NARS cosmetics is that no matter what the color, no matter how bold or how bizarre, no matter how much I think: “Oh, I’ll never be able to wear that” I always can, and I always do, and it always looks great.
I tried “Rage” a purple eye shadow that is very intense, but somehow makes eyes of every color, pop. Seriously, I made friends try it. The purple is clear and true, not too warm or too cool. It’s gorgeous. naturally
For lips, red is always right, and especially for holiday. “Short Circuit” is really fun to wear, because it’s a bright, warm, modern red. Not orange, but not the same old bloody tomato red either. It has attitude and yet it has that NARS magic, so even if you don’t normally wear a warm color, you’ll sashay away with this one on your lips, looking good, not garish. Trust me!
As a child, NARS Founder and Creative Director François Nars discovered Guy Bourdin’s work in the pages of French Vogue. It was then that Nars was first inspired to become a makeup artist. Today François Nars honors Bourdin’s legacy with an entire limited edition collection for Holiday 2013, created in the spirit of Guy Bourdin: bold, uncompromising color and high-impact finishes in shades that launch us into his intriguing, high-fashion world.
Ladies, you know a picture is worth a thousand words, so I think the photos below kind of say it all (and I’d love your comment):
