|Agron Sela, Poet|
Last year, I made a startling discovery. Agron Sela, a man that I literally walk by every single day, revealed to me that he was a poet. It turns out, he’s a very talented poet, too. Agron’s first (and I hope, not the last) book of poetry is called: Songs of Silence. This native of Kosova and Macedonia began writing poetry in the 5th grade, and majored in Albanian Literature at the University. A political situation exiled him before he could reach his goal to become a Professor of literature. Instead, Agron tends to the door in the building in which I live. But he is still an amazing poet whose words cut right to the heart of the matter.
When I wrote an article entitled: “What Does Luxury Mean to You?” I also asked Agron if he would write a poem, inspired by that theme, and he obliged. And now, Advice Sisters readers and friends and followers on social media, have the “luxury” of being the first public readers:
LUXURY by Agron Sela
If you can afford me
I will be with you.
You should throw away
The glasses of ideology
So I can not be fastening.
I am it, luxury
Where from the cave
Make your way out.
Not long afterwards, I asked Agron if he had written any other poetry (I’m hoping he’ll write enough to publish another book). He said he hadn’t, so I wondered if many he would be inspired by the Wintry weather we’ve been having.
COLD, by Agron Sela
This year, the winter appears to be strong.
He sometimes screams
With a bitterly cold wind,
That shakes you.
Sometimes, he throws endless snow,
Like soil when you bury someone.
Even thou with warm homes people complain.
Cold, cold …
I am afraid of human’s coldness
….and without being prompted, Agron also sent me this lovely poem:
THE BEGINNING OF AUTUMN, by Agron Sela
The weather is breathing easy.
The leaves start to get yellow
Like the walls in the room of a smoker,
And variegated colors
Flowers’ wreaths in cemeteries.
Sun’s smile doesn’t appear any more.
The girls, when they pass the street,
Still dressed in light clothes,
I am not a publicist or a promoter, or even such a poetry fanatic. But Agron’s poetry, as you can see for yourself, is unique.
