Tibi’s fun and flattering fashions in bright colors and prints are the type of clothes that magically suit just about everyone. Her flirty, mini dresses and evening gowns work for just about any type of event from a dinner date to weddings. As you can see from the puffy fabric “roses” on this bare-shouldered blouse, intricate details are an important part of each design, along with color, and fabulous fabrics. I love these sophisticated clothes that are still lighthearted. Visit the TIBI web site and you’ll even hear cheerful music while you browse.
I was really looking forward to the TIBI runway show at Bryant Park back in September, but although I was invited, there just wasn’t room for everyone. Later that same week, however, I met Amy Smilovic in person at the American Express Skybox *photo of the two of us and arranged to see the Spring 2009 collection up-close-and-personal after fashion week.
The actual runway show was awash in styles, from Obi-sashed, Asian-style dresses, to harem pants, to bright, mini dresses…
….But there was a lot more to the collection than just the styles that made it down the runway. Here are a few of the TIBI Spring 2009 designs that delighted me when I went to see them in the TIBI showroom:
I loved this looks-good-on-everyone, eye-catching mini dress in TIBI’s “Dos Parajos” print. The print showed up on the runway in high waisted, below-the knee dress with a tulip-style, draped hem, a blouse, and another dress with a mandarin collar. And, the long, orange “Geo Beding” evening gown has intricate beading in a Navajo-inspired pattern at the straps and the bodice.
The buttons are part of the detail of the “Ottoman” skirt, and I adored the dress in the same print.
An up-close detail of some of the intricate beading on a blouse. American Indian style beading showed up on a variety of Spring designs –an easy alternative to wearing a lot of jewelery–especially if you are packing light.
….Just like TIBI clothes, the shows have something for everyone, from strappy evening sandals to adorable, colorful flats. My favorite was “SACHA” a red, backstrap sandal with a low, chunky heel and two large, red leather “bows” on two of the three cross straps. DARA is the backless, flatter, “mule” version. ADRIANNA is a gold flat crossed on the side and over the top of the foot with two large, delicate, gold leaves that brings out the goddess in you.
The detailing on this silk blouse features delicate lace. You could wear this top with just about everything you own.
When it’s time to hit the beach (or the books, during Summer session), these TIBI totes are the perfect thing!
The sheer, sexy, cotton cover-ups, and swimwear in bright patterns, make me long for warmer weather, right now.
