If you’re like me, you love wearing fragrance, but it often wears off before you are ready. In the old days, you had to simple bring the bottle with you (and hope it didn’t leak or break in your handbag). Recently, there have been a couple of really novel products that have been developed that let you carry your favorite fragrance without the fear of breakage or leaking, or lugging around something heavy. The Sen7, for example, is a bullet shaped flacon looks like an alien talisman, but it is an atomizer that hold about 5.8 ml (up to 70 sparys) of your chosen fragrance. It comes with an accompanying funnel for refilling. What I like so much about the Sen7 is that is available in a rainbow of colors, metallic finishes, and even in rubber. It is also quite unisex–and of course, infinitely re-fillable. A man could pick one of the metallic or darker colors, and slip it into his suit pocket to “refresh” his own cologne before a night out , a big meeting, or any time he needed to smell (how can I put this nicely…) better. Once filled, the Sen7 performed perfectly, spritzing just the right amount on pulse points, without smelling up my handbag. But you have to fill it the old fashioned way, with the included funnel inserted into a hole in the bottom of the atomizer. Expect some spillage. The Sen7 wasn’t any cleaner or easier than any other, except for the Scent Genie, which transfers the fragrance directly to it’s atomizer by inserting the top directly into the top of your perfume’s spray diffuser top. But for looks and the wow! factor, Sen7 wins the prize! it’s like a piece of precious jewelry or an art object, as compared to something more utilitarian. The Sen7 is being sold online either in colors or metallic classic, for $38.00 with free shipping for orders over $76.00 sold online at check out all the styles on the Sen7 Web Site It would make a great gift for any fragrance loving man or woman and for yourself, of course. Since it comes in so many different colors and metal finishes (and even a rubber version) you can get different ones for each of your favorite scents, and just switch them off as you wish.
Makeup can make you look beautiful, but a makeup compact with great makeup in it, is a thing of beauty that can make you look beautiful and be beautiful on it’s own. The limited edition Barocco Face Palette $55.00 from Clarins is just such a product. Clarin’s Holiday 2010 colour collection called “Barocco” is inspired by the dramatic, daring and sensual style of the baroque period. The Barocco Face Palette definitely has that “wow!” factor both in the compact and in the product. The Face Palette comes in a shiny, holly-berry red box. Inside, a rich, red velvet pouch holds a substantial black mirrored compact with a shiny, silver, metallic overlay of ornate scrolls with a slight nod to heraldry. The compact opens like a precious jewel to reveal a large square of sandy-beige with gold shimmered face powder festooned with the same scroll design as the compact’s lid, in intense, matte, peachy-pink. Although there isn’t an applicator with this particular “makeup jewel,” swipe your kabuki brush or a soft puff around the powder and add it to your face to brighten and mattify your complexion. It is like an instant facial–your skin will just look smoother, brighter, younger, better! When you close the lid of the compact, it closes with a luxurious, definitive “click!” While the compact is weighty to carry in an evening bag, the elegance will be worth it. Other products in the collection include: * Barocco Shimmering Gold Powder for Face and Décolleté: $35.00 (an elegant black and gold powder box holds little nuggets dusted with golden pearl. With a sweep of the puff, they release a fine powder to beautifully enhance the skin with sparkling reflections); Barocco Eye Colour Trio $40.00 (a trio of shades that create the perfect smoky eye for day and night with these ultra-fine textures that can be combined, layered or blended together for perfect holiday makeup); Barocco Rouge Prodige $24.00 (the purple velvet drapes of the Baroque period are the inspiration for the color of this lipstick. The rich formula combines long-hold colour, extreme shine and total comfort). The Barocco Collection is available now at select department store and fine speciality stores.

Some time ago, I attended a Home Shopping Network holiday preview. At the event, I was really interested in the heART HSN 2010 Designer Ornament Collection. These were ornaments personally designed ornaments by 70 HSN “friends” including the likes of celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwen Stefani, Mary J. Blige, Sean Combs, Tori Spelling, Molly Sims, Martha Stewart, Iman, Reem Acra, Carlos Falchi, Naeem Khan and Emeril Lagasse! The mostly-Swarovski crystal-embellished ornaments (official crystal of HSN’s Christmas Ornament Capsule Collection) are all unique, with prices ranging from $19.90 to $49.90. Even better, 100% of the profits, no less than 30 percent of the purchase price of each ornament, will be donated to St Jude Children’s Hospital and its on-going efforts. The collection will debut in tandem with the launch of HSN’s new philanthropic arm– HSN Cares. HSN Cares was established to support the program tenets of a select number of non—profit organizations committed to the health, social and economic needs of children and their families. I got an up-close-and-personal look at the ornament designed by fashion model Twiggy which retails for $29.90. It makes an impressive gift, arriving in a large, red, square, hard-sided presentation box lined with lots of red satin. The large, blue metallic ornament looks like a chubby Hershey’s kiss, and it is festooned with a sideways Union Jack, red glitter, and lots of red, Swarovski crystals. Atop the ornament is a double red blue lined with gold metallic thread, and embroidered with “Twiggy London”on both sides. No matter which one you choose, you will be getting a keepsake that you can pass down to the next generation–assuming you don’t break it along the way! What makes a great mascara is highly subjective, but what makes a unique mascara could be the packaging and delivery systems. Lash Control offers an innovative, squeezable mascara package which allows you to regulate the desired amount of mascara product on the brush. The key is a built-in “wiper” at the mouth of the tube. Here’s how you get the lashes you love, without clumps: Hold the pink section (the flexible wiper) with your thumb and first finger and unscrew the mascara cap with your other hand. As you pull brush through the flexible wiper sleeve – squeeze genttly to get more mascara on the wand, or firmly, to wipe about excess if you want less — or just pinch the tip. Then squeeze the brush clean to further lengthen and separate. You control the mascara volume and eliminate clumps evetry time you use the mascara. These are not ordinary mascaras, and they’re pricey, but practical (and a unique “little splurge” gift idea). The Conditioning and Lengthening formula (pink squeeze middle) that retails for $20.00, called “ultra long and silky” which it is, and it is in a deep black color There is also a Clear coat with a clear, squeeze middle, that can be used as a top coat or to tame eyebrows, for $16.00, and a Lengthening and Conditioning extra black mascara (purple squeeze middle) that also retails for $20.00 . Key lash loving, organic ingredients include: chamomile flower extract, gentle beeswax, ginko biloba extract and ginseng root extract, among other botanicals and condtioners. . What I also like about these luxurious mascaras is the way they remove easily with warm water. The mascaras come in a snap-closure, clear plastic pouch. Yes, you can get cheaper and effective mascaras, but it’s the holidays. Treat your BFF to one of these unique mascaras and make her holiday super-luxe. Just be warned, the squeeze midddle aplication is addictive. Once you try Lash Control Mascara there may be no going back to drugstore brand wanded tubes!
