|air-kissing on Oscars red carpet on the road to a potential win!|
Sunday Night is what I like to call the “Superbowl of Stars,” the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Like millions of women (and plenty of men), I long to be there in person on that celebrated red carpet, the road to the Oscars. I can imagine myself glittering in a designer gown and jewels, maybe even getting a snarky comment from Joan and Melissa as flashbulbs pop! Although I do go to plenty of glamorous events, I don’t have entree to that red carpet.
But we can all get a little star treatment with the products from the Not Soap Radio I’m Not Here, I’m Really Walking the Red Carpet collection. This collection features a black and red currant, rose and jasmine blend that personally bowled me over with it’s romantic possibilities. The jasmine note smells slightly spicy and authentic, the black and red currant add a bit of fruity tartness, and the overall result reminds me a lot of Hawaiian plumeria –except cleaner and fresher, and without the overwhelming sweetness. The scent would work with an special occasion dress, even a wedding dress, but I am willing to bet that if you use these fragranced items in your boudoir, you might just win an award of your own!
I received two of the four bath & body products to review: The Foaming Cleanser ($20.00 16 fl. oz) and the Just Glow Dry Oil Spray ($20.00 4.1 fl. oz) . The other items include the Body Souffle ($22.00) and Body Polish ($22.00).
I’m a fan of multi-tasking cleansers and the I’m Really Walking the Red Carpet Foaming Bath and; Shower Gel is both that (a bath and shower gel) and a hand soap (plus if you really want to, you can shampoo your hair with it too). In the end it’s just a good cleanser, but the clear plastic pump bottle has a fun, bold, red label (featuring spotlights, stars and a black stiletto). It definitely dressed up a bathroom! The hefty size also gives you enough to wash your cares away for a couple of months (depending upon how many times you use it). And the winner is…..!
If there was ever a day I felt like I’d rather be anywhere than here at my computer, it is today…right now! But in that true “take me away” tradition, a few test spritzes of the hydrating, richly-scented, Just Glow All-over Dry Oil perfume (in the pump bottle on the left in the photo) actually did transport me, if only for a moment. The dry body oil leaves a slight gleam on your skin while it hydrates and scents it . (thanks to the blend of exotic fragrances and essential oils). Don’t be afraid of the word “oil.” It’s not the stuff you dangerously slathered on your skin at the beach. This oil really is “dry” as well as hydrating. The instant you smooth it on your skin, it just absorbs without any residue. And guess what? You can even use this as a room spray.
…and that’s not all the “Red Carpet” excitement you can have from Not Soap Radio. There is also a Face Palette $15.00 (and there’s one for Spa, too). My first thought was that these would make the best little favors for anything from a Sweet 16 party, to a Wedding Shower. The Red Carpet version is all campy, girly fun. It arrives in a slim, white, cardboard compact with magnetic closure and a red label with that cute, black stiletto (that I realize now reminds me of the stiletto mule classic Barbie wore). The interior has a small mirror, three very sheer, slightly shimmery, shiny, pink-toned lip glosses, three neutral night to day eye shadows (one matte, two slightly shimmery and the deepest in a rusted pink that is very trendy), and a contouring blush in a deep brick and medium beige (they look alarmingly dark and they’re intense, but they can be blended out). A dual ended applicator brush (one side for shadow, one for lip gloss) make this all you ll need when you finally do “get away.” Pop it into your purse, and watch the envy in your friend’s eyes when you produce it. You might not be on the red carpet, but you will get attention and raves from your “fans.”
