Kate Somerville is a celebrity facialist and creator of the Kate Somerville Skin Health Experts, a renowned medi-skin clinic in Los Angeles. Her celebrity fans include Debra messing, Kate Walsh, Felicity Huffman, Simon Cowell, Calista Flockhart, and Julie Louise Dreyfus (just to name a few). Kate also has absolutely amazing, high-end and high performance skincare products that her clients can enjoy in treatments and for purchase.
The philosophy of Kate Somerville skin care is based on a Skin Health Pyramid, with five fundamental elements for beautiful skin: Protect, Hydrate, Feed Stimulate and Detox. I have reviewed individual products from her super-excellent, skin and bodycare line, in the Advice Sisters What Works column and on this blog. If you have a bit of disposable income (or feel that great skin is a non-negotiable — priceless) you can enjoy the pampering and results that the stars get from the medi-spa in California, at home.
One sensible way to try this exceptional line of products is by purchasing The Glow Kit . This kit has three of Kate’s most popular products, packaged in a nice, re-useable, zippered travel bag. and all of them are perfect for dealing with the doldrums of dry, dull, Winter skin. You get full sized products of: ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment, 2 oz.; Deep Tissue Repair Cream, 1 oz. and (my favorite product), the Quench Hydrating Face Serum, 1 oz.
Start with the ExfoliKate, housed in a flip-top tube. What I love so much about this product is that it is nearly an instant result. I mean, it takes 20-30 seconds and your skin looks like you’ve just had a great facial. There just isn’t another product that works faster, or better, than this one. Furthermore, although some exfoliating products are hash, this one didn’t irritate my super-sensitive skin. The green slightly gritty gel gives your skin an instant glow, while it gets rid of dry, dead skin cells. Massage the product on your face for 20-30 seconds, and watch the fruit enzymes clarify skin and eliminatebacteria (this makes it also highly effective in combating acne, including stubborn blackheads). Key ingredients include papaya enzymes, lactic acid, bromelian, and rosewood oil. My skin looked glowing and felt smoother…and the entire process, including application and washing off the product, didn’t take a minute!
Add super-hydration back into your skin with the Quench Hydrating Serum. It arrives in a silvery pump and it feels just like a silk wrap to pamper your skin. The product locks in water, so your skin stays hydrated day and night. During the Winter months, dehydration is a real problem, and this product really helps to knock the dryness out. These products have all sorts of high tech and special ingredients to help them work. Quench Hydrating Serum has HSC Complex, an advanced hydrating system to bring that moisture into your skin and lock it into your cells. It also features RetiStar, an advanced form of Vitamin A, to counteract aging. Dry or stressed skin immediately looks and feels silky and pampered. You can add a bit of this to another moisturizer, too (I suggest maybe one with some SPF protection). All around, it is a must-have product. Once you try it, you probably won’t want to ever be without it.
The final product is the Deep Tissue Repair Cream with Peptide K8. The Deep Tissue Repair comes in what looks like a traditional jar, but it has one of those amazing, pump top openings that dispense just the right amount, without your ever having to touch the contents and contaminate it. Genius! The rich cream works like magic, instantly softening and strengthening your skin, providing a velvety texture you can really feel. But it absorbs quickly and thoroughly, so you won’t feel anything but soft skin, thanks to a proprietary formula that blends Peptide K8 with collagen builders. It penetrates deeply into skin to help repair it and actually reverse damage!
None of these products contain: Synthetic Dyes, Phthalates, GMOs, or Triclosan. Men love these products, too (so be nice, and share). That’s another reason to love them. This reviewer, at least, is totally hooked. Admittedly, Kate Somerville’s Glow Kit isn’t inexpensive at $265.00 but it still is a value, as purchasing the products separately would cost you $300.00. You can get these at www.katesomerville.com, Sephora, and select Neiman Marcus and Nordstom stores
